Frequently Asked Questions

Do Pork Chomps help maintain oral health?

Yes! When your dog chews on Pork Chomps, the chewing action scrapes away plaque, controls tartar buildup, and helps stimulate gums. This diminishes bad breath, keeps teeth whiter, and reduces the risk of potentially serious dental problems.

Are Pork Chomps safer than rawhide?

Made of baked pork skin, Pork Chomps are easy to digest. Dogs who chew Pork Chomps have a much lower risk of developing gastrointestinal problems than dogs who chew rawhide. Pork Chomps also contain none of the harsh chemicals found in many rawhide chews.

Are Pork Chomps messy?

Pork Chomps are very clean dog chews. Dogs don't just chew them — they eat them — leaving behind no slimy pieces to clean up. The majority of Pork Chomps dog chews do not stain, with the exception of the roasted varieties.

Is it safe for dogs to ingest Pork Chomps?

Yes, in moderation. Pork Chomps are easy to digest. They break down more readily than rawhide. With any dog chew, however, there is a risk of large pieces getting caught on the way down, so always supervise your pet to minimize the risk of choking.

Why aren’t Pork Chomps made in the United States?

We developed Pork Chomps after our extensive veterinary study affirmed pork skin to be a safe alternative to rawhide. We wanted to provide dog owners with a superior, long-lasting chew for their pets at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, demand for rawhide is still high in the U.S., with most rawhide being imported from Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Brazil. Due to the limited supply of U.S. pork skin, we must import to meet the growing demand for Pork Chomps.

How safe is the manufacturing of your products?

Since Scott Pet was founded over 35 years ago, we've always strived to ensure every product we make is of the highest possible quality.

We maintain the same stringent quality controls when producing Pork Chomps that we maintain in our U.S. facilities. Our plant in China produces Pork Chomps exclusively, and a member of the Scott Pet management team is on-site to oversee all operations.

It is as important to us, as it is to you, to give your pet a chew he can thoroughly enjoy and you can feel good about providing.
